Wren 2021-22

The adults in Wren Class are Christina, Irram and Jacqui.

This term in Year 1, our topics have been Me Myself and I, and Toys and Games.

We have been focusing on exploring emotions and how to manage different emotions in a variety of situations. We focused on a range of books in our English lessons such as Ravi's Roar, The Colour Monster and Perfectly Norman. We developed a range of strategies to help the characters cope in these situations and how best to overcome the difficulties which arise. One way which we explored to fully understand the best strategy to suggest was through role play. As you can see from the photos the children were acting out scenarios and then implementing a strategy.

We have also written an amazing recount of the beginning, middle and end to The Story of Pinocchio. We are extremely proud and amazed by our outcomes and have enjoyed editing our writing to reach our full potential.

We have also been learning about body parts, how to keep healthy and have recently been exploring properties of natural and manmade materials. Wren Class were amazed when we conducted an investigation to understand the importance of soap and how it tackles germs. Learning the importance of how to be healthy and how to keep others around us safe. We used milk, food colouring and soap to visually understand each representation and the role which soap plays.

The chime of Wrens are marvellous mathematicians! We have explored number in a variety of representations to support the process of addition, ordinal numbers and family facts. We also used greater than, less than and equal to symbols to compare groups of numbers alongside number stories.
