Wagtail's Class Assembly 

This term our topics are The Ancient Greeks and Festivals of Lights

We have learnt all about the extraordinary achievements of the Ancient Greeks and the impact their ideas had on our modern lives. We had a great time on our Immersion day when, dressed in full Greek costume, we created  images of Greek vases, food and calculations with Greek numbers . The day culminated in an delicious Greek feast and celebration of our learning. In English, we created our own Greek Gods and monsters and wrote mythical style stories.

In the 'Festival of Lights'  topic, we have learnt about the history of Halloween and prepared for our own Stoneydown Festival of  Lights. Painting and creating our own Diyas, we wrote messages of hope and peace which we shared with our peers. Examining the connections between different festivals and the role of light and dark in different customs and cultures gave us a chance to understand the how different communities use light.

Working hard to learn our times tables this year, Wagtail class are making very good progress . We love Professor Assessor for speed practice and playing games in the classroom with cards and board games. We are very proud of our attitude to learning!
