Starling

Class teachers: Ilka Najam

This term our topics are The Ancient Greeks and Festivals of Lights

Starling class have enjoyed learning about the Ancient Greeks , their influence on modern democracy and how they rich and poor lived.  We particularly enjoyed learning about the difference between Athens and Sparta and debating about the advantages and disadvantages of living in both cities.

We also designed and created our own mythical Greek monsters/ creatures using clay. We used the pinch pot method to create the base for the heads and created ridges to attach different parts onto them.

In the 'Festival of Lights'  topic, we have learnt about the history of Halloween, Diwali and Hannukah. We examined the connections between different festivals and the role of light and dark in different customs and cultures.

We created Diyas out of salt dough . We had to wait for them to dry before painting them with bright colours.
