Sparrow 2021-22
The adults in our class are Jolanta and Muneeba.
In Sparrow class we have been exploring different stories that help us think about ourselves and how we feel. The Colour Monster helped us to understand different feelings and emotions and gave us confidence to refer to these colours on a daily basis when we are experiencing different emotions.

Our topic this term is Toys and Games. The Toy shop in our role play area provides us opportunities to develop our understanding of the different materials that toys are made out of. We have been able to explore the properties of a range of materials which are around us as part of our science topic. We have also looked at how toys have changed over time, particularly those which our parents or grandparents used to play with when they were younger. In our classroom we have a timeline starting from 1903 to the present day which helps us to visualise how toys have evolved over the years. Some of us made games at home which we shared with our friends in class and then taught them how to play these by giving verbal instructions. The Toy Shop also includes a selection of both fiction and nonfiction books. This enables us to increase our knowledge about the history of toys which we may or may not be familiar with. We have opportunities to be a shop keeper or a customer and practice our counting skills by using money to purchase or sell toys.
