Merlin 2021-22

Merlin class has had a fantastic start to the year. We may have started the year a little nervous about our new classes but we have formed great bonds and supportiveness. In Merlin class, we start each morning with a check-in (inspired by our online check-ins during online learning). This helps us to take the time to reflect privately on our emotions and start each day in a positive and ready-to-learn headspace. 

We started our year off with the riveting topic of 'Freedom'. In this, we explored the way that many key figures have fought for the freedom of people all over the world. In particular, we explored the lives of Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, Malala Yousafzai, Rosa Parks and Emmeline Pankhurst. We then presented our research and new knowledge through green screen information videos. 

After this, we moved onto our topic of 'Time' where we have been exploring the theory of evolution and how our magnificent world and the living things on it have changed over billions of years. We have continued this topic in our art lessons too! We have been learning life skill drawing techniques through careful observations of the structure of a flower over time.
