In Jay class our adults are Jack and Serena.
This year we have been getting hands on with history, transporting ourselves back in time to 1666 to explore the Great Fire of London!
We dressed in period costume and built our own Tudor houses as part of our WOW day at the start of the topic. Together we demonstrated how the fire spread from the bakery on Pudding Lane, leaping from rooftop to rooftop! Later on, we baked our own bread following a recipe from Thomas Farriner himself.
Jay class have even used their burning passion and writing skills to write a diary entry as if they were back in 1666 themselves. Through drama, the children have also had the opportunity to interview key figures from the time and publish their own newspaper reports. It's been a lot of fun!
