Swift

Class teacher: Matthew Pizer

We loved learning about the Tudors through our English and Topic work. We learnt about the wonderful works of Shakespeare, as well as the life and times of famous Tudor characters. We also studied the wonderfully funny play "A Midsummer Nights Dream," which was so much fun. We were also extremely lucky to experience a theatre company who helped us perform the play in front of the whole school!

We visited the Globe theatre - a fantastic traditional Tudor theatre - which was awe-inspiring and really took our breath away!

We found the Science work extremely interesting because we learnt all about sound and how it travels. Who knew that sound could travel through wood?

Swift had a busy, learning-packed first term with topics including prehistory, microorganisms and the ancient culture of Benin.

We had a wonderful time visiting the British Museum as a part of our freedom topic. We were introduced to the fascinating ancient traditions of the Benin culture. We also had a wonderful time drawing some of the amazing artefacts on display at the museum. It was such a great day out and a fantastic way to introduce the inspiring Benin culture.

To introduce our topic ‘Time’, we travelled back in time to the Stone Age to explore the wonders of the time. We did our very own cave paintings, carried out an archaeological dig, hunted wild animals, built our very own stone axes and also painted the wonderful Stonehenge. We had such a great time! It was a fantastic way to introduce our topic.

Finally, we had an amazing time visiting the Natural History Museum. We had a go at being palaeontologists for a special dinosaur workshop. We dug up dinosaur fossils and examined them using special tools. We also got to have a look at some of the other amazing dinosaur fossils on display at the museum. It was such a fantastic day, even if Mat did get scared of the T-Rex!
