Nightingale

Nightingale have been experiencing the benefits of a creative curriculum this year, working on design and technology projects using saws, vices and bench hooks to create some wonderful models of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, as well as a trip to the real thing (where they got to deliver a few lines on stage.)
We have learnt some great games to aid with our maths skills, focusing mainly on our times tables.
World book day was a real treat, dressing up as Shakespearian characters and immersing ourselves in the wonderful world of literature.
We have been looking at the circulatory system in science which featured the optional activity of dissecting a lamb's heart.
History has most recently featured the changing city of London looking at famous landmarks, historical events and influences on our great city.
As always we have been celebrating diversity in the classroom and can now greet each other in over 25 different languages.
Our next big venture is a class assembly where our own mystery story will come to life on stage for the entertainment of the junior site students, teachers and some lucky parents.

Nightingale had a busy, learning-packed first term with topics including prehistory, microorganisms and the ancient culture of Benin.
We had a wonderful time visiting the British Museum as a part of our freedom topic. We were introduced to the fascinating ancient traditions of the Benin culture. We also had a wonderful time drawing some of the amazing artefacts on display at the museum.
To introduce our topic ‘Time’, we travelled back in time to the Stone Age to explore the wonders of the time. We did our very own cave paintings, carried out an archaeological dig, hunted wild animals, built our very own stone axes and also painted the wonderful Stonehenge. We had such a great time!
Finally, we had an amazing time visiting the Natural History Museum. We had a go at being paleaontologists for a special dinosaur workshop. We dug up dinosaur fossils and examined them using special tools. We also got to have a look at some of the other amazing dinosaur fossils on display at the museum. It was such a fantastic day!
