Linnet

Class teacher: Shirley Pike / Nitisha Demart

Linnet class have been having lots of opportunities to learn through enjoyable practical activities.
We had a great time in central London, visiting unique landmarks such as Buckingham Palace. The highlight of our trip, of course, was our ride, or maybe we should say 'flight',  on the London Eye. What a memorable day that was.
To celebrate World Book Day we came to school dressed as characters from Shakespeare's plays. Our teachers were very impressed with our outfits, as were the parents who came in to read with us. We enjoyed all the reading activities . Later in the week, we were delighted when Robin Stevens (author of Jolly Foul Play) came in to talk about her work and sign her books.
Most recently, we have had a day dedicated to science. We made our own fingerprints and were amazed to find that we found dissecting a heart really interesting and a help in our understanding of how our bodies work. We also  listened to a fascinating talk by a neurologist about his work with premature babies. Both the speaker and our teacher were delighted with the quality of the questions that we asked about this.

Linnet had a busy first term with topics including prehistory, microorganisms and the ancient culture of Benin.

We had a wonderful time visiting the British Museum as a part of our freedom topic. We were introduced to the fascinating ancient traditions of the Benin culture. We also had a wonderful time drawing some of the amazing artefacts on display at the museum.

In P.E. the Linnets showed skill and self discipline with the equipment and each other. They have shown evidence of good spatial skills and the ability to relate with respect to other team players.
